Teen Seriously Injured in Jefferson County Crash at Route A and Pioneer Road

Jefferson County, Mo. (KFMO) - A 16-year-old driver from Arnold was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Route A in Jefferson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 2:58 p.m. at the intersection of eastbound Route A and Pioneer Road. Investigators say the juvenile driver of a 2006 Ford Mustang turned onto Highland Baptist Park Road, made a U-turn, and then attempted to cross Route A southbound onto Pioneer Road. That’s when a 2017 Ford Transit, driven by a 37-year-old man from Cadet, struck the passenger side of the Mustang. The impact sent the Mustang off the right side of the roadway.

The 16-year-old driver was seriously injured and transported by the Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South. Both vehicles sustained extensive to total damage and were towed from the scene. Authorities report that all occupants were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
