Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A tragic crash on Highway 21 near Woodhaven Road claimed the life of a six-year-old girl Monday morning and sent three others to the hospital with injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1997 GMC 1500 driven by a 25-year-old man from Cadet was heading northbound at around 7:50 a.m. when the vehicle veered off the west side of the roadway, striking a mailbox. The truck then slid across the highway and ran off the opposite side before crashing into a tree.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Washington County Memorial Hospital. Three children from Potosi were passengers in the vehicle. An 11-year-old boy suffered moderate injuries, and a 4-year-old girl sustained minor injuries. Both were also taken to Washington County Memorial. The six-year-old girl, who was wearing a safety device, was critically injured in the crash. She was pronounced dead at Washington County Memorial Hospital. T
