Potosi Man Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Crash

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - A local man is behind bars following a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash Monday night.

According to the Potosi Police Department, the incident began around 9:27 p.m. on July 7, when an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a registration violation. The officer noticed the vehicle accelerating away and initiated a traffic stop with emergency lights and siren.

The suspect, later identified as Joshua Fierce of Potosi, reportedly failed to yield and led police on a pursuit southbound on State Highway P. The chase ended near the intersection of Highway P and Rosaray Road when Fierce lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. Fierce was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle sustained very minor injuries and was transported to Washington County Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Fierce has been charged with Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention, Causing Physical Injury, Driving While Revoked or Suspended, Careless and Imprudent Driving, and several other traffic violations. He is currently being held without bond at the Washington County Jail.
