St. Francois County, Mo. (KFMO) - Changes are coming to the way residents in St. Francois County vote.
County Clerk Kevin Engler has announced a plan to consolidate polling places across the county, with the goal of improving efficiency and reducing costs.
Engler says under the new system, voters will check in with an ID, which will be scanned to print a ballot specific to their precinct on demand. This new method will eliminate the need to pre-stock multiple ballots at each location and allow for cost savings.
Another major improvement: all of the new consolidated polling locations will be fully ADA compliant. Currently, 7 of the county’s 21 precincts do not meet accessibility standards. However, Engler says the Bismarck and Leadwood polling locations will remain in place due to their distance from centralized sites and because they already meet ADA requirements. The Clerk's office is working to have the changes implemented by the April 2026 election.
