Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Mineral Area College is introducing a new Animal-Assisted Interventionist Certificate Program beginning this fall semester.
The course is designed for individuals interested in using therapy animals to support people in settings such as schools, hospitals, and behavioral health environments.
Stacey Gillette, a Social Science Instructor at MAC, says the course will be accessible and affordable for local students, especially compared to other programs that can cost between $5,000 and $10,000 and require significant travel.
MAC’s program offers training without the high cost or inconvenience, making it easier for people in the Parkland and surrounding areas to get certified.
