Multiple Injuries Reported in Crash at Highway 21 and Route E in Washington County

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 21 and Route E in Washington County sent multiple people to area hospitals Wednesday morning, including four children, two of whom were seriously injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 10:57 a.m. on July 2, 2025, when the driver of a westbound 2016 Dodge Journey, a 32-year-old woman from Bonne Terre, failed to stop for a red light and was struck by a northbound 2024 International truck. The impact caused the Dodge Journey to skid off the west side of the roadway and roll down a hill.

Six passengers in the Dodge were injured. A 6-year-old boy from Bonne Terre and a 15-year-old girl from Cadet suffered serious injuries and were flown by ARCH Air Ambulance to St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington County Memorial Hospital, respectively. Two other children, a 2-year-old boy and an infant girl, were taken by ambulance with minor injuries. The driver of the Dodge and a 32-year-old female passenger were transported with moderate and minor injuries, respectively, to Washington County Memorial Hospital. The driver of the International truck, a 58-year-old man from Patterson, was not injured.

Troopers say inattentiveness and failure to obey a traffic signal led to the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
