Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Firefighters with the High Ridge Fire Protection District rescued a 15-year-old boy from a burning mobile home early Friday morning.
Crews were dispatched to the fire at 3:12 a.m. on September 19. When they arrived, firefighters were told the teenager was trapped inside. A search team quickly located him in a closet connected to a bathroom and pulled him out of the home within three minutes. The boy was alive but had suffered serious burns. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Following an investigation, officials determined the fire started in the victim’s bedroom. Investigators say the fire was intentionally set, but no foul play is suspected.
Evidence suggests the teenager attempted to put the fire out himself before becoming trapped.
