Bonne Terre Man Charged in Jefferson County Vehicle Theft Case

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Bonne Terre-area man is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing a pickup truck from an apartment complex in Imperial earlier this year.

33-year-old Jared T. Kline was charged July 1 with stealing a motor vehicle. Prosecutors are seeking to elevate the charge to a class C felony due to Kline’s status as a persistent offender, citing 11 prior felony convictions. He was arrested on July 15 and remains in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Court records state the theft occurred around 7 a.m. on January 28, 2025, when a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was stolen from Lakewood Terrace. Surveillance video showed a man exiting a red Ford pickup and taking the Avalanche.

Investigators used Flock cameras and GPS data from Kline’s ankle monitor to track his location during the theft and linked him to the crime. Kline allegedly confessed to the theft in a February 3 interview.
