Thomas Scores in OT, Blues Win 11th Straight

St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) – The St. Louis Blues capture their 11th straight win tying a franchise record set in 2019, beating the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime 5-4.

The Blues led 4-2 entering the third period but let the Penguins back into the game on goals from Rickard Rackell near the midway point of the period, and Rutger McGroarty’s first NHL goal with 25 seconds left.

Robert Thomas scored the overtime game-winner 2:12 into the extra frame while on the powerplay.

Pittsburgh’s Bryan Rust began the scoring early in the first period and Connor Dewar put the Penguins back on top 2-1 early in the second.

Jake Neighbours scored twice, Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich also scored for the Blues. Rookie Jimmy Snuggerud earned his first NHL point in his second game assisting on Neighbours’ second goal.

Joel Hofer stopped 24 shots in the win.

Dylan Holloway left the game after the first period. He took an awkward hit late in the period and was ruled out with a lower body injury. Blues head coach Jim Montgomery was not able to provide an update after the game.

St. Louis (42-28-7) sits in the top wild card spot in the Western Conference with 91 points. They host Colorado on Saturday on KFMO at 5:30pm.
