Fredericktown Lady Blackcats Escape Danger With Calie Allgier's 3-Run Bomb, Beat St. Pius Lancers 5-3

(Fredericktown, MO) Junior Calie Allgier led the Fredericktown Lady Blackcats over the St. Pius Lancers with a go-ahead 3-run homerun giving her club the 5-3 lead in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Fredericktown let a 2-1 lead slip away in the top of the 6th after RBI singles from St. Pius’s Maliya Underwood and Jillian Taylor.

The Lady Cats came to bat in the bottom of the inning trailing for the first time in the game. Fredericktown catcher, Abby Kinkead lead off the bottom half of the 6th with a four pitch walk sparking the rally.

Sadie Gibson doubled, sending Kinkead’s courtesy runner, Anna Tripp, to third. That brought up Calie Allgier who delivered the big-fly.

After the game, Lady Blackcats Head Coach, Miriah Allgier, and Calie Allgier, said they were hoping the home run would stay fair.

Calie Allgier’s lone hit in 4 at-bats was the homerun, Sadie Gibson added two singles earlier to go along with her double, and Michaela Reagan was 2-for-4 at the plate in the win.

Reagan earned the complete game win allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 9 hits. She struck out 7 batters and walked a pair.

St. Pius’s Rylee Bohnert and Anna Biermann were both 2-for-4 at the dish. Kenzie Quick is tagged with the loss after allowing all 5 Lady Cat runs (4 earned) on 9 hits. She struck out a batter and walked four.

After the loss, Lancers Head Coach, Kevin Halley, says he’s proud of the effort his team gave.

Fredericktown began the scoring in the second inning with Kinkead’s RBI single that scored Becca Mangold. Laynee King would later score in the inning after a throwing error by Jesse Robertson at shortstop.

Robertson scored on an error in the top of the 4th to put the Lancers on the board and cut the 2-run Lady Blackcats lead in half.

Fredericktown improves to 14-5, and play at St. Clair on Monday, while St. Pius falls to 6-9, and host Hillsboro on Friday.
