In Loving Memory of Leo Edward Schweppenstede Jr.
November 18, 1956 – August 29, 2025
On August 29, 2025, the world grew a little quieter as Leo Edward Schweppenstede Jr. passed away at his home in Florrisant, Missouri. True to the love he carried for his family, he was not alone-his faithful dog, Buddy, and his granddaughter were by his side.
Leo was born on November 18, 1956, to Leo Sr. and Georgia (nèe Algen), who preceded him in death, as well as his late wife and partner-in-mischief, Betty Lou.
Leo and Betty married on February 16, 2000, and spent 22 years together building memories, working side by side, and bringing joy to everyone around them. Whether strolling flea markets, setting up shop as vendors, or taking the red Mustang for a spin (the one the grandkids teasingly dubbed the “midlife crisis car”), they lived life with laughter, love and a little bit of troublemaking.
He leaves behind his beloved “twin” granddaughters Christine (Josh) Dement of Farmington, Missouri and Crystal (Zakk) Hutson of Wellington, Kansas. Leo adored being a great-grandfather to Ashlyn and Cheyenne who will forever carry his stories, lessons and laughter forward. Cheyenne’s fiancé, Lucas of Arvada, Colorado, also had the privilege of knowing Leo’s generous spirit. Leo is also survived by great grandchildren Chase (Anna) Dement and Kyleigh (Dustin) Repp, also one great great granddaughter Aria Dement. Beyond family, Leo had a wide circle of friends that he considered family-people who knew they could count on him at any hour with his truck, his toolbox and his great big heart.
Leo was a man of projects, of purpose and love. He was the sort of soul who built, fixed and gave without hesitation. His presence filled every space he entered, and his absence leaves an ache that words cannot fill.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. until funeral service at 1:00 P.M. in the Coplin Funeral Home of Park Hills, Missouri with interment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Park Hills, Missouri .
