Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - As members of the Missouri Legislature work through the special session, called by Governor Mike Kehoe, funding for many rural projects could be lost.
State Senator for the 3rd District, Mike Henderson, says funding for stadiums for the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs is taking priority with some legislators.
Henderson explains the spending bill had revenue for communities across the state.
According to Henderson, other projects included money for a sheltered workshop in Phelps County and funding to keep several rural hospitals open. Other funding included storm relief after severe weather in some parts of the state.
It's expected House members will take up the issues next week after Senators approved a bonding plan for the Chiefs and Royals stadium efforts. Henderson says he supports local community funding.
