Kehoe Extends State of Emergency, Highlights Ongoing Disaster Recovery Efforts Across Missouri

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Governor Mike Kehoe has extended Missouri’s State of Emergency through August 31, 2025, citing the ongoing need for disaster recovery following widespread storms and flooding that have impacted the state since March.

“Our state team members have done an outstanding job this year, working shoulder to shoulder with local counterparts to aid Missouri families and businesses recovering from an unprecedented string of damaging storms,” said Governor Kehoe. He also credited faith-based and volunteer groups and praised President Trump for approving multiple federal disaster declarations.

Kehoe first declared a State of Emergency on March 14. Monday’s Executive Order 25-27 marks the latest extension following additional severe weather in Southwest Missouri over the weekend.

Key recovery highlights include:

$22 million in FEMA and SEMA assistance has been provided to over 4,600 families in St. Louis and Scott counties.

The Missouri National Guard helped with massive debris removal in the City of St. Louis—clearing the equivalent of 200 football fields of debris.

A special legislative session resulted in a $100 million appropriation to the Department of Public Safety for tornado recovery in St. Louis.

Over $3.8 million in FEMA/SEMA aid has reached 750+ households across 18 counties impacted by March storms and wildfires.

Eight Disaster Recovery Centers remain open to assist residents with applications and questions.

Deadlines to apply for FEMA assistance are:

July 22 for March 14–15 incidents

August 11 for May 16 incidents
