Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A 29-year-old man from Arnold is facing serious charges after a Jefferson County Deputy was injured while trying to take him into custody.
Caleb Sowell is charged with one count of Assault - 2nd Degree - Special Victim and one count of Resisting or Interfering With Arrest. Deputies went to Sowell’s home to serve multiple felony warrants. Authorities say Sowell was outside when deputies arrived, but ran toward the house upon seeing them. Deputies chased Sowell and caught up to him just as he entered the home. According to the Sheriff's Office, Sowell allegedly slammed the door behind him, striking a deputy’s arm on a glass panel. The glass shattered, causing multiple lacerations to the deputy’s arm.
Sowell was arrested inside the residence a short time later. He is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
The injured deputy was treated at a local hospital and has since been released. The investigation is ongoing.
